The Griffin's Story - 1990s
It's been over 140 years since Griffin's first started in Nelson. In that time we have had an exciting journey. Follow our history
from humble flour milling beginnings all the way to where we are today, one of New Zealand's largest branded food companies.

1990: Ownership of Griffin’s switched from Nabisco to Britannia Foods. Then in December of the same year, Danone bought Griffin’s from Britannia Foods.
Griffin’s sold the confectionery business to Cadbury in 1990 in exchange for the Hudson Biscuit business which included the factory at Papakura and brands such as Chocolate Chippies, Shrewsburys, ToffeePops, Sultana Pasties and Squiggles.
