1951: The proceeds earned from supplying the war effort were put to good use, allowing Griffin’s to add some high-tech equipment including two new electric ovens and an enrober to coat biscuits in chocolate and cooling tunnels.
Mid 1950's: Nick Cody an English immigrant to America decided to retire to New Zealand. He used his experience of manufacturing American cookies and crackers to help expand Griffin’s range to include MallowPuffs, Chocolate Macaroon, Krispie, Snax and more.
Late 1950's:Biscuits were usually sent out in bulk tins to retailers, who would sell them either by weight or in small hand-made “penny bags.” But with all the new product ranges and better baking machines, a new system was needed. The first automated wrapping machines were soon installed and made quick work of getting products ready for the shelves.
1959: Griffin’s bought the Southern Cross Biscuit Company, based in Wanganui, from the Dunstan family.
